| HAVE COFFEE WITH A COP CHORUS: Have a coffee with a cop Have a coffee with a cop When you see them sittin' all alone Have a coffee with a cop When you see them walking on their beat Or cruising down the street Let them know that you care And you're glad to see them there Then CHORUS You know they're not bullet proof They have feelings like me and you They have problems too So let’s see what we can do And CHORUS When they're with their families And trying to make ends meet They pray like we do For the Lord to see them through So CHORUS Words and Music by Don Mathews Copyright 2011 |
A POLICE OFFICERS' DREAM Out on patrol, last Saturday night, a woman flagged me down, and asked me for some help. So I radioed my dispatch, got out of my car, then I asked the lady, what could be wrong. She said, “Jesus came to me and said call out for help. There’ll be someone watching over me when I’m down and out.” And there you are you’re my angel of the night. I turned to get my pen, so I could write it all down, turned back around, but the lady had gone. Back at the station, everyone was talking about, the lady who said she saw Jesus, when she was down and out. They didn’t believe me, about what I saw, but I knew she was real. I could feel it in my soul. Back on patrol, going to another call, a man with a gun, wanting to end it all. As I drew my weapon, I swear I saw her there, but when I approached the front door, only the man with a gun was there. Then I heard “Jesus came to me and said call out for help. There’ll be someone watching over me when I’m down and out.” And there you are you’re my angel of the night. I said “I’m the police, put your gun on the floor“, he said “People just hurt me, and I don’t want to live here anymore. As we lowered our weapons, and he put his on the floor, he said, “I’ve only prayed once, and I heard a lady say, “Call out for help, and angels will appear, wearing badges on their chest, someone who really cares,” I felt a calm come over me, as I came through the door, for I know God was telling me, we all need to care just a little more. As we were leaving the scene, walking towards my car, I know I saw the lady smile, as she slowly faded away. As an officer I know, I’ll never be the same, because God will send me an angel, even when I don’t have time to pray. Jesus came to me and said, “Call out for help. There’ll be someone watching over me, when I’m down and out.” And there you are, you’re my angel of the night. Call out for help, and angels will appear, wearing badges on their chest, someone who really cares. Words and Music by Don Mathews Copyright 2006 |
